Students will examine the perspective of different characters in a story.
First Grade
First graders are viewing The Miracle Worker. This is the portrayal of the early life of Helen Keller and her teacher, Anne Sullivan. Students will examine realia from that time period and discuss the challenges in the life of Helen Keller.
Kindergarten
To kindergartners, I will read the chapter book The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling in which a boy acquires a magical gift that turns everything his lips touch into chocolate. Students will discuss how a dream-come-true might have its bitter side. Be careful what you wish for!
